Celebrating International Women’s Day with Grace Cole
To celebrate International Women’s Day 2023,
we’re highlighting the amazing women in our business. Being a female-led business, we’re passionate about empowering women and celebrating everything they achieve, not just on International Women’s Day but always! We spoke to our CEO, Tracy Mort MBE, and other female members of the business, to ask them what International Women’s Day means to them, their proudest career and personal achievements and their best life advice for other women.
Tracy
CEO and Founder of Cole Beauty
1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It’s an opportunity for Women to celebrate women and all they are possible of and achieve of a daily basis. Women supporting women is so empowering.
2. What would you say your proudest career moment would be so far?
Launching my own business from my kitchen table. When a woman puts her mind to it there isn’t anything she cannot achieve!
3. What would you say your proudest personal achievement would be so far?
Receiving my MBE for services to the UK Economy, an extremely proud moment for myself and my family. I have a daughter so to see her Mum up there receiving an acknowledgement for all the hard work and commitment was a real inspiring moment for her too.
4. What piece of life advice would you give to another woman?
Believe in yourself is the strongest piece of advice I can give, so often I meet women who really lack belief in themselves and what their capabilities are. Many times I have been told I could never do what you’ve done, and they absolutely can. All women are capable of so much, don’t be afraid and don’t give up. Women are strong and brave and bold daily and if they can dream it, they can certainly achieve it with belief!
Natalie
Sales Coordinator
1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
I think it’s fantastic that we recognise and celebrate the amazing achievements of all women.
2. What would you say your proudest career moment would be so far?
Having started my role here with no experience in the field and being trained and guided over the past 9 years in a female led business to now coordinating sales and operations on a worldwide scale.
3. What would you say your proudest personal achievement would be so far?
Raising two beautiful and fiercely loving little women who aren’t afraid to speak their own minds!
4. What piece of life advice would you give to another woman?
To believe in yourself. You can achieve anything you set your mind to if you truly want it.
Rebecca
1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It is all about Women inspiring and empowering Women, no matter your position in life.
2. What would you say your proudest career moment would be so far? I have had so many ‘pinch me’ moments in my career but I would have to say building a high performing brand team here at Grace Cole and having the support of our CEO Tracy Mort MBE who hasn’t doubted me for a second!
3. What would you say your proudest personal achievement would be so far?
I would say being a full-time, working mum is my biggest achievement to date. I didn’t quite realise the physical and mental pressure it would put me under but I’m lucky to have other inspiring women around me that continue to achieve great things. Sometimes I think ‘how do single mum’s do it’ so a shout out to all of you out there!
4. What piece of life advice would you give to another woman?
You don’t know what you can achieve until you try what you think you can’t do.
1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It’s a day to celebrate women and what we have all achieved in the face of adversity, for years men have held the reigns and kept women in the background, but we have been able to prove that we are just as good if not better than some men at the same task. These achievements cover many areas including football and other sports which have inherently been male sports, whilst we are only just breaking through to these sports, women are achieving so many goals that we are being noticed a lot more.
2. What would you say your proudest career moment would be so far?
I once had a male boss who told me that I would never achieve my goal of becoming an Accountant, when I was able I left the company and got a job in Finance and worked my way up in a few years to become a successful Finance Manager, who helped a £12m turnover business become an £80m turnover business. This was achieved by working with the MD and building the processes, a great team and a great working culture.
3. What would you say your proudest personal achievement would be so far?
My proudest personal achievement is developing and nurturing many staff during my career, it has been amazing to watch them achieve their goals and see them go on to bigger and better roles that they were always capable of.
4. What piece of life advice would you give to another woman?
Don’t let anyone stand in the way of what you want to achieve, hold your hands up when you are wrong and learn from your mistakes, if you are not happy with what is happening in your life on a work and personal basis then look to make changes to allow you to grow. Your happiness depends on you and no one else, life is difficult but if you put in the work you can achieve the life you want.
Lucy

1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It’s a day to reflect and celebrate how far women have come. We’re strong and powerful and we should feel it today and every day.
2. What would you say your proudest career moment would be so far?
Being hired for the role as a Junior Designer for Cole Beauty because it’s always been a dream of mine to work as a designer in the beauty industry and I’m loving it!
3. What would you say your proudest personal achievement would be so far?
Becoming 1/5 faces of the new Cole Beauty brand, Fruit Works! I love how inclusive, fun and diverse the brand is, so to be one of the faces is a dream come true.
4. What piece of life advice would you give to another woman?
Don’t compare yourself to others because there’s only one of you and you’re amazing the way you are.
